What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system and philosophy that incorporates many different aspects of our lives - nutrition, cooking methods, herbal remedies, exercise, lifestyle, environment and even sleeping habits.

It is therefore a complete way of life.  It dates back to over 5000 years and is often referred to as ‘the mother of all medicine’.

The benefits of Ayurveda

The aim of Ayurveda is to maintain a disease-free state of good health.  In ayurveda, health is seen as a total balance between mind, body and soul.

Ayurveda can help improve your overall health or treat a specific condition.  Ayurveda can also help you:

• understand what foods suit you best
• alleviate stress, worry and depression
• ascertain what sport is best for your body type
• implement diet changes according to your constitution
• respond to seasons that may affect your moods
• lead a more peaceful and fearless life
• realise your full human potential
• eliminate diseases such as:

arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, cardiovascular problems, cancer, digestive disorders, skin problems & viruses.

What happens during ayurvedic treatment?

Ayurvedic treatment covers a wide range of areas including: diet analysis, herbal remedies, meditation, breathwork & exercise.

Ayurveda’s best known mind/body workout is yoga.  Ayurveda also uses massage in combination with warm oils to relax and restore equilibrium.
