What is firewalking?

Firewalking is the ancient ritual of walking across hot coals in bare feet.

It stems from ancient cultures who walked upon hot coals for ritual purification, healing and worship.  Firewalking is still practised today as a local custom in parts of India, Spain, Fiji and Bulgaria.

However, it is becoming increasingly popular in the west as a self-empowering motivational activity.

The benefits of firewalking

Firewalking is used to help individuals achieve personal fulfillment and companies reach increased levels of effectiveness.  Taking part in a firewalk will help you to:

• overcome fears or phobias
• change limiting beliefs
• create lasting change
• enable you to achieve the impossible
• encourage you to live your dreams
• stimulate personal motivation
• promote effective leadership
• increase clarity about your life’s purpose

What happens during a firewalk?

Firewalking seminars vary from one day events to weekend retreats to full firewalk instructor’s certification training.

Seminars typically include a number of personal growth activities, energy work, meditation and breathwork.

Participants help build the fire which is measured to be approximately 1200 degrees Fahrenheit.  The fire is then left to smoulder to a pile of glowing orange and black embers before you walk across it.  You are not forced to walk the fire!

You will probably be asked to sign a form releasing the event organisers from any liability if you are injured.  However, firewalkers very rarely burn their feet.

Professional firewalking instruction, the right frame of mind and correct pace avoids injury.
