What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a treatment that uses aromatic substances known as essential oils.

Essential oils are the pure “essence” of a plant and produce psychological and physical benefits.

The oils can be used either in inhalation or baths or applied to the skin using massage techniques.

The benefits of aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has proven therapeutic success that:

• dispels sadness, worry, nervousness
• reduces stress, irritability
• overcomes fear, frustration, poor memory
• boosts energy and vitality levels
• relieves muscular aches & pains
• corrects digestive disorders, constipation
• enhances wound & scar healing
• purifies the environment
• stabilises respiratory conditions, colds & flu
• soothes skin problems, eczema, psoriasis, cellulite, wrinkles
• combats obesity
• improves poor circulation

What happens during an aromatherapy session?

The first consultation enables the aromatherapist to compile a detailed case history.  Questions will be asked about your condition, medical background and lifestyle.

The aromatherapist will use up to 300 oils, blended to suit your individual needs.  Massage is one of the more common ways to introduce the oils to the body.  Massage helps the oils penetrate the skin into the tissues and bloodstream.  The oils can then circulate around the body, regulating metabolism and balancing mind & body.

A full aromatherapy session includes the whole body, the face and feet and may last up to 2hrs.
